SHIPWRECK LODGE IS INSPIRED BY THE LEGENDARY SKELETON COAST

SKELETON COAST NATIONAL PARK, NAMIBIA

Here at Outside GO, we love an outpost with serious wow-factor. Shipwreck Lodge in Namibia has our jaws dropping with 10 incredibly designed rooms inspired by the storied past of the Skeleton Coast, where many a ship met its fate.

Here, the sweeping sand dunes of Namibia meet the edge of the Atlantic in a surreal setting. This is where the newly crafted Shipwreck Lodge calls home. Perfect for honeymooners and families alike (all ages welcome), this base camp features 10 stand-alone cabins designed in an ode to the shipwrecks along the coast. Situated in the central concession area between the Hoarusib and Hoanib rivers, the lodge is within Skeleton Coast National Park and as such, shares space with an incredible diversity of species ranging from desert adapted elephants to the elusive brown hyena, as well as one of only two lion populations in Namibia. You might also spot giraffe, numerous fur seals, and prankster baboons during your stay. But the landscape steals the show here, and with or without wildlife sightings you’ll enjoy daily 4x4 adventures across the dunes, walks and sundowners on the beach, visits to numerous famous shipwrecks along the coast, and much more. We’re sure you’ll find yourself feeling right at home in this breathtaking and mysterious part of Africa.

"Described by the San Bushmen as ‘the Land God Made in Anger’, the beaches are strewn with bleached whale bones and the wrecks of over a thousand ships."
