Days 1, 2

Granada, Nicaragua

Your journey begins at the Real La Merced in the city of Granada. The hotel has been rebuilt into one of the most beautiful and representative mansions of Granada, whose majestic presence highlights the intercession of Real Street and Avenue September 14. Historical touches make you feel like you've been transported into another time.  Spend your first night overlooking the city from your room while preparing for the excitement to come, or start things off right at any of the local bars where you can sip a welcome cocktail called "El Macua", the national drink of Nicaragua. After a hearty breakfast you'll spend some of your time here hiking up to and then sandboarding the Cerro Negro Volcano, the second youngest volcano on the American continent.  After the sandboarding adventure embark on a Flor de Caña rum tour as a reward!

Days 3, 4

Jicaro Island

Before your transfer to the private island getaway where you'll find your next place of lodging you'll be exploring the Masaya Volcano and Santiago Crater.  With a flashlight and a guide you'll walk through tunnels carved out by the passage of lava, ending at a viewpoint where you have the possibility of peering into the mouth of the crater to see the lava below.  A stop at the Masaya market for handicrafts and other local goods rounds out the first part of your day.

This evening you'll be crashing at Jicaro Island Ecolodge.  Located on one of the small islands on Lake Nicaragua, this open-air bungalow is just a short boat ride away from Granada.  Take a yoga class on the property, go for a horseback ride, kayak around the still waters, or just kickback in the hammock on the porch of your casita.  Here you'll experience two days of uninterrupted bliss.

Days 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

San Juan Del Sur

For those of you skipping ahead to get to the part about surfing, wait no longer.  Day number five sees to it that you get your fill of the ocean in true Nicaraguan style.  You'll depart this morning for Morgan's Rock, an amazing ecolodge with access to a private beach where you'll spend the next four nights.  Set in 4,000 acres of Nicaraguan jungle, just above the border to Costa Rica, Morgan's Rock is the perfect scene to learn how to surf or hone your skills.  Enjoy morning sessions followed by afternoons filled with the activity of your choosing, from horseback riding to zip-lining to deep-sea fishing. This is a paradise playground and guests are encouraged to reach out and explore it. Before you know it, you'll be wondering where the week has gone - and when you can come back.
