You may be too excited for sleep, but remember that your guide will arrive early tomorrow morning to whisk you off to an adventure of grand proportions!
Days 2, 3, 4
Denali National Park
We begin with a bucket-list bang, taking a flight plane into a holy grail of hiking, backpacking, and mountaineering in Denali National Park. Cascading waterfalls, massive glaciers, and verdant tundra are some of the highlights within this vast landscape, providing a mesmerizing backdrop for your wilderness camp. Though the true lord of the realm is colossal 20,237-foot Denali (a.k.a. Mount McKinley), the tallest peak in North America. Take it all in, this is your home for the next few nights.
SEWARD WINDSONG LODGE
After a few days spent adventuring in the glorious Denali National Park we'll fly out and board the Denali Star train for an absolutely spectacular overland journey through the Alaskan heartland to Anchorage, cruising through boreal forests and the beautiful Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Once we've reached Anchorage we'll turn south and travel along the Seward Highway towards Seward, our home for the night, arguably one of the most beautiful drives in North America.
Days 6, 7
Kenai Fjords National Park
KENAI FJORDS GLACIER LODGE
This morning we'll embark on a small ship that will allow us to explore the rugged coastlines of incredible Kenai Fjords National Park, home to great glaciers and an astounding array of marine wildlife: whales, Steller sea lions, sea otters, puffins, and more. After the glacier cruise through the park we'll arrive at our remote, exclusive lodge. This Native-owned wildlife sanctuary rests on the edge of a protected lagoon, and guest cabins enjoy stunning views of Pedersen Glacier. The rugged beauty of Alaska's spectacular seacoast and abundant marine wildlife is balanced nicely with the creature comforts of private cabins, a cozy main lodge, and hearty meals with gourmet flair.
Enjoy another breakfast and early afternoon exploring the fjords and glaciers of that national park. Today we start back towards Seward by boat before beginning the next wilderness portion of our trip. En route ample opportunities for photography and more wildlife viewing will present themselves. Once back in Seward we will head north to spend the evening in Anchorage. Nestled in a verdant valley surrounded by mountain peaks, hanging glaciers, and spectacular ocean views, the Hotel Alyeska offers luxurious accommodations and convenient access to the magnificent Alaskan wilderness.
Days 9, 10
Lake Clark National Park
A fly-and-drop adventure is the best way to experience the sheer magnitude of Alaska, and what better way to round out this epic journey than a vista-rich floatplane flight to stunning Turquoise Lake. We'll land amid hanging glaciers and the mountains reflected on the lake's surface. Here we'll set up a pure wilderness camp, it's the perfect launch pad for two days of exploring all the natural extravagance of Alaska combined into one unbelievable place - 6,300 square mile Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. The tundra provides perfect cover for black bears, sheep, grizzlies, caribou, moose, birds of prey, and all manner of migratory fowl.
Days 11, 12
THE FARM LODGE
After an early morning and a climb up to the astounding views of Turquoise Lake. Our float plane will arrive by mid-afternoon to return us to Port Alsworth. Your final night will be spent relaxing at the Farm Lodge, located in Port Alsworth, the headquarters for Lake Clark National Park, overlooking Hardenberg Bay. Lake Clark itself is over 35 miles long and offers access to numerous fishing holes and beautiful scenery for your final night. After breakfast at the lodge the final morning we’ll spend the rest of the day enjoying one last excursion into the Alaskan wild as we hike to Tanalian Falls.
