Prior to your train ride to Aguas Calientes, the town perched at the foot of Machu Picchu, you have the chance to visit Ollantaytambo, a town with the unique claim of being the oldest continuously occupied settlement in South America! The colonial manor house might just be the first Spanish construction in the city and is centrally located on an Inca settlement near the present-day main square. Inca soldiers trained here and Peru's great liberator Simon Bolivar enjoyed the hospitality of the home as well.
