BOTSWANA: TENTED LOVE
VICTORIA FALLS | OKAVANGO DELTA | KALAHARI DESERT
Botswana is a one-of-a-kind experience, and there is no better way to experience it than with Outside GO.
Our Tented Love safari has you exploring three very different areas from the comforts of four unique and luxurious basecamps. Each destination has been handpicked for its low-impact wilderness camps and high-emotion wildlife experiences. From an island in the Okavango Delta to a stilted river-side camp in a private concession and finally, to a remote camp in the salt pans of the Kalahari Desert. These diverse landscapes capture your imagination while the wildlife encounters capture your heart. Twelve days in Botswana simply won't be enough.
Days 1, 2
MOSI-OA-TUNYA NATIONAL PARK
Your safari begins just north of the Botswana border in Zambia, only seven miles upstream from the world- renowned Victoria Falls. Set in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Toka Leya perches on the banks of the Zambezi River, where it's normal to see rambling elephants, grunting pods of hippo, and idle crocodiles. The camp is a perfectly placed base-camp from which to explore from. Game drives, fishing, rhino tracking, and adrenaline-pumping adventures are just a few of the awesome activities on offer; or you can choose to simply relax in the comfort of camp and take in the stunning surrounds and comings and goings of wildlife.
Days 3, 4, 5
Next up is one of our all-time favorites, Duma Tau Camp, which nestles in the midst of the sprawling 308,000-acre Linyanti Concession in the Okavango Delta and boasts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in all of Africa. Newly rebuilt and overlooking the sparkling lagoon, Duma Tau is the epitome of safari chic. With no shortage of activities and an abundance of wildlife, including one of the largest concentrations of elephants anywhere in Botswana, you are guaranteed nonstop action with truly exceptional guides at your side.
Days 6, 7, 8
KALAHARI PLAINS CAMP
Leaving the greenery of the delta behind you’ll venture into Botswana’s largest conservation area, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. With almost unparalleled cheetah viewing and sightings of the legendary Kalahari black-maned lions, the Kalahari Desert may end of providing your favorite game viewing of the safari! Your lodging while you explore this expansive landscape is Kalahari Plains Camp, an exquisitely beautiful tented camp overlooking an immense pan. A guest favorite is the sleep-out areas situated above each tent, providing the intensely memorable opportunity to fall asleep watching the stars dance across the expansive sky.
Days 9, 10, 11, 12
There is no greater finale to your Botswana safari than a return to the waters of the Okavango Delta and an island camp in the midst of all the beauty. Under the shade of an ancient Delta Forest, on an island only accessible by boat, you’ll find all the tents of Little Vumbura, connected by raised walkways. The wildlife is prolific and enchanting, and often you won’t have to leave the seclusion of your tent’s private viewing deck to have a chance at incredible sightings. The surrounding floodplains and large rivers mean you’ll spend as much time on the water as on land. Nothing compares to the feeling of being so close to the waters of the delta as you float along the waterways in a shallow dugout canoe. It’s this brand new vantage point of the wildlife you’ve come to love throughout your safari that makes a stay at Little Vumbura the perfect ending to this breathtaking safari.
