Days 1, 2, 3

GET SITUATED IN SYDNEY

FOUR SEASONS

You'll begin with what has become our classic Sydney pit-stop—three incredible days spent exploring the city that is famous around the world. On your first day you'll just be arriving after what is most likely a long journey, so take it easy with a microadventure in the famous Rocks district. Go to the museum, walk the markets, and grab a bite to eat while overlooking the harbor.

The next day, take a private tour of the city and its must-see stops. You'll get your bearings both on land and water while avoiding tourist traps and the hassle of trying to design your own sightseeing day. Board the 44' cruiser, "Iluka," for your 3-hour cruise taking in some of Sydney's most iconic landmarks. You'll see the Opera House from up close and then continue on to the Eastern Suburbs. The tour will take you past Woolloomooloo, Garden Island, Double Bay, Vaucluse, Rose Bay, and up to historic Watsons Bay. Then cross the harbor towards Chowder Bay and Taronga Zoo to have a fresh seafood lunch. That afternoon do more touring by land, including one of Australia's most famous beaches—Bondi.

The third day, you'll climb the iconic Sydney Harbor Bridge. It stands 440 feet over the water, and you'll conquer the height under your own power. That afternoon, tour the Opera House with a private guide. Or if you would prefer, tack on a private surf lesson at Bondi Beach! You'll be staying at the stately and conveniently located Four Seasons while in Sydney.

Day 4

OVERLOOK THE MURRAY RIVER

THE FRAMES

At the end of your three spectacular days in Sydney you will board your scheduled flight to Adelaide, pick up your car, and make the easy 3-hour drive to The Frames in Renmark. Built high on the cliff-top looking out over the tranquil waters of the Murray River in South Australia, The Frames is perhaps one of the most exclusive of all Outside GO outposts. With only three unique rooms, these individual retreats have been designed for privacy with couples or small families in mind. You'll have your own secluded balcony overlooking the river plus your own private outdoor area, heated pool, spa, sauna, BBQ, and more. This is the perfect overnight stop before embarking on your hike the next morning!

Day 5, 6, 7

FLOAT AND EXPLORE THE MURRAY RIVER

PRIVATE HOUSEBOAT

On day five you'll embark on your adventure hike. Meet your guides and fellow walkers at the marina, where you'll board a open air catamaran for a six-mile creek cruise up the Murray River to Headings Cliffs. There, after traversing Reny Island through red gum forest and black box woodlands, you'll find your houseboat and floating base camp for the next three nights. The afternoon will consist of climbing sand dunes on Hunchee Island (be on the lookout for kangaroos and emus), marveling at the Aboriginal Canoe trees, and pondering the wreck of the P.S. Kelvin barge.

The next day, you'll head to the mouth of Chowilla Creek, part of the largest anabranch system in South Australia. There you'll climb Headings Cliffs to watch the sun rise and learn about the geological layers formed by wind, ocean, and lakes over time. After enjoying breakfast and tea, explore dense red gum forest on the way to Amazon Creek Junction. After which, you will see spectacular wetlands and waterbirds on the Big Hunchee Widewaters.

On your final day, you'll visit the majestic Queens Bend Cliffs above Lock Six. You will cruise Chowilla Creek before arriving at Bunyip Reach to start your walk. Explore the wetlands, watch fish climb the ladder at the lock, and then journey on to the surrounding cliffs that surround the floodplain below.

Rock to sleep each night on your houseboat, complete with showers, a lounge area, and spa, and a modern kitchen where a chef will cook you up delicious fare. In total, you'll have hiked 24 miles and truly earned that onboard spa!

Day 8

STOPOVER IN ADELAIDE

THE MAYFAIR

This morning you start with a leisurely cruise after breakfast to the historic Customs House, Border Cliffs, and the South Australian and Victorian Border, before commencing the journey downstream to pass through Lock 6. You will rejoin the houseboat and cruise on past the Chowilla Station Shearing Shed and on to Wilkadene Woolshed Brewery for a tasty lunch, tour, and a brew (or two).

After lunch, transfer back to Renmark and on to Adelaide. The evening will be spent at The Mayfair, the city's newest five-star boutique hotel. Enjoy the centrally located and heritage-listed building before departing for Kangaroo Island the next morning.

Days 9, 10, 11

ADVENTURE ON KANGAROO ISLAND

STRANRAER HOMESTEAD

The final few days of your trip will be on island time. Start off your tour of Kangaroo Island and have a cuppa with some home-made cakes before taking a walk down a country track through tall Eucalyptus trees where koalas snooze overhead, or perhaps wake briefly for a feed. Travel through some of the island’s best farming country to the north coast, where at Lathami Conservation Park you'll walk quietly through the bush with your guide looking for wallabies. These amazing creatures are almost extinct on the mainland. You might also find a kangaroo found only here on Kangaroo Island.

The next few days will be full of delicious meals featuring fresh-caught seafood, hikes along the beach to meet the Australian sea lions, and exploring Flinders Chase National Park—an immense wilderness area of 200,000 acres. You might see koalas, goannas, echidnas, platypus, and many birds during your stay. There are also a plethora of cultural heritage sites to take in! Needless to say, you could spend the entire week on Kangaroo Island and not run out of things to do.

You'll be staying at the beautiful and historic Stranraer Homestead. The owners Lyn and Graham work together to provide an outstanding experience for every day of your stay. It is a delight to discover what awaits! After breakfast on your final morning, transfer to the airport to make your journey home, or if you can, join us to extend your time Down Under.
