SCARP RIDGE LODGE

CRESTED BUTTE, COLORADO

Crested Butte, Colorado, is one of those hidden mountain gems. With a local population of only 1,500, it's the kind of town that isn't chock-full of tourists and designer storefronts.

Not that there's anything wrong with couture, but rather, that there's something very right about a small community in the mountains that still ticks the way the locals want it to. Combine this authentic small-town vibe with staggering Rocky Mountain peaks in every direction you look, and you've got the perfect ingredients for the winter escape of a lifetime. Maybe that's why the former coal-mining burg is now called "the last great Colorado ski town." Our favorite place to stay in the Butte? Scarp Ridge Lodge, and for good reason.
